This
article, just out in the Iowa Law Review, discusses judicial tendencies to romanticize the parent-child relation in the context of the criminal law. The author, Jennifer Collins of Wake Forest, observes that parental offenders are treated better by the criminal justice system than are extrafamilial offenders, and she analyzes why this is sometimes a bad thing.
